Cal/Mag 1001 tabs from Douglas Laboratories provide 500 mg of elemental calcium from a calcium citrate/ascorbate complex, together with significant amounts of magnesium from an aspartate/ascorbate complex, as well as vitamin D-3. Other nutrients are also included to assist the body in maintaining healthy bone structure.
In addition to its significant role in bone health, Calcium is also required for other bodily functions. For example, calcium plays a very large role in muscle functions. In essence the cells that signal the contractions of our muscles rely on the presence of calcium. If calcium levels are low then our muscles may not function as optimally as they should.
Calcium also plays a role in helping our immune system function. If our tissue is torn or broken calcium signals our white blood cells to where the damage is. This is significant because white blood cells are how our immune system fights off intruders or foreign cells.
If not adequate calcium is present in the blood, the above processes start "stealing" calcium from bones, the main depositor of calcium. As a result, the bones may become weak and lead to a condition known as osteoporosis a condition characterized by weak porous and brittle bones.
Cal/Mag 1001 tabs not only provide sufficient amounts of calcium to the body, they also provide Vitamin D3, a key regulatory harmone for calcium and bone metabolism.
Magnesium and vitamin C are also formulated into Cal/Mag since magnesium is another essential mineral that plays a large role in maintaining bone health.
This product contains NO yeast, wheat, gluten, soy, protein, milk/dairy, corn, sodium, sugar, starch, artificial coloring, preservatives or flavoring.
