QUELL Fish Oil is Supercritical CO2 extracted oils in triglyceride form, manufactured in Germany exclusively for Douglas Laboratories. QUELL Fish Oil is unique among other fish oils for its critical extraction, purity, bioavailability and concentrations.
Omega-3 fatty acids are found in fatty layers of cold-water fish and shellfish, plant and nut oils, English walnuts, flaxseed, algae oils, and fortified foods. Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids are called EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). These are plentiful in fish and shellfish. Algae often provides only DHA.
These polyunsaturated fats (EPA and DHA) play a very important role with the function of our bodies. They are vital for maintaining healthy function of the brain and retina. DHA helps with forming neural transmitters, such as phosphatidylserine, which is important for brain function. EPA and DHA are converted into hormone-like substances called prostaglandins, and they regulate cell activity and healthy cardiovascular function.
As the most abundant fatty acid in the brain, adequate amounts of DHA are needed throughout infancy and adulthood for ongoing optimal function. Vitamin D, also known as the "sunshine vitamin" is an essential vitamin that plays many important roles in the proper functioning of the body. Vitamin D is thought to play a role in cardiovascular health. Vitamin D is fatsoluble, meaning it needs a fat source to be absorbed properly. Therefore, combining Vitamin D with omega-3 fatty acids may help facilitate adequate vitamin D3 absorption into the body.
